West Cornwall and
particularly the area around St. Ives Bay have a wealth of opportunities for
those seeking a more active holiday.
St. Ives was voted the top UK beach resort for the UK and came sixth in the Best European Beach Destinations in a list quoted in the national press.
For those interested in walking, the South West Coast Path offers miles of beautiful walks and is but a few minutes from most of the properties.
The beach is one of the best in the country, safe for swimming with RNLI lifeguards situated along its three mile stretch of golden sands. Several surf schools are available in the area offering tuition as well as equipment hire. Hayle and particularly the Gwithian end of the beach has some of the best surf in the country.
Advice regarding various water based sports such as wind surfing, kayaking, jet skiing etc is available from local organisations. Sea safaris and short sea trips are on offer from St. Ives and Penzance while visitors can venture further to explore the Isles of Scilly. Cycling is well catered for with the national cycle route passing through Hayle and there are several off road routes, excellent for a short or longer distance cycling. West Cornwall boasts a huge variety of activities for both young and old and they are here for you to discover.
