Key Features

‘Bide a Wee’ means to stay a little… or maybe you’d like to stay a lot? The names of the chalets at Riviere Towans have stayed with them over the years, and offer us a little insight in to the original owners holiday experience… Bide a wee is a place from which to enjoy the surrounding dunes and spectacular views across Hayle Estuary towards West Cornwall Golf Course and Lelant Church. From the side view of the property there are glimpses straght across St ives Bay.
Perfectly located for the south west coastal path and the stunning stretch of sandy surf beach which runs from Hayle Estuary all the way to Gwithian. Access to the beach is on foot, and once there you can explore coves, caves, and the fabulous tidal lagoon which forms at high tide opposite Lula’s Rib Shack…

Bide a Wee offers accessible dog friendly accommodation for up to 7 guests with 1 double en-suite, 1 double with single bunk and 1 twin room, open plan kitchen and living space and accessible wetroom. Outside seating takes in views across the Estuary.

Linen is not available in this chalet as standard for environmental reasons and reflected in the price. Linen is available through toms if required. We ask that guests either bring their own or contact reception to request this. The supplement for a double is £20 and for a single is £12 (which includes towels). Duvets and pillows are provided as standard.

A message from Toms
Come and find us in our on site office open 9am-5pm Monday - Saturday and 9am-1pm on Sundays, from maintenance to housekeeping, travel tips and directions, we’re here to help! There is a 24 hour ‘out of hours’ contact number for us too.

The Location
The holiday park is one of the oldest in the country, with the first chalets constructed in the early 1920s. Now a beautiful site with a vast range of unique, quirky and privately owned accommodation, including beach chalets, bungalows and lodges. Many have stunning sea views and all are within a few minutes walk of the beach.

On the doorstep
Walk the coastal path at low tide all the way along the beach from Hayle river mouth to the Cliff tops of Godrevy and the surf break at Gwithian where you’ll find great food and drinks from cocktails to coffees, ice creams and fresh seafood at the local cafes and restaurants.

For those seeking surf, beginners to experienced surfers and bodyboarders can enjoy doorstep breaks at Hayle Rivermouth and Mexico Towans, both within walking distance of the park. Paddle boarding and kayaking on the Estuary, as well as kitesurfing and windsurfing are popular all year round.
Hayle is home to the RSPB Hayle Estuary Reserve, Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary, Hayle Lido, ice cream parlours, gift shops, great food (including Cornwall’s best Pasties from Philps), pubs and supermarkets.

Further Afield
Take the coastal train from Lelant to St. Ives, and visit The Tate & Barbara Hepworth museums. Visit Newlyn Harbour and Fish market for the best in Cornish Fish. Wander around the historical market town of Penzance, taking in the Harbour and Egyptian House or take a day trip to Lands End and coastal walk to Sennen Cove.
Find your way to Knill's Monument and Steeple Woodland Nature reserve, a 40 acre public open space which overlooks St Ives Bay before making your way down to Carbis Bay for fabulous food, drinks and its sheltered beach.
Cornwall has always been a favourite of artists, writers and film producers and its rugged coasts and beautiful coves have featured in numerous films and TV series most recently, the popular Poldark series. Whether it is a relaxing break or a more action packed holiday you are seeking, Toms Holidays at Riviere Towans is the ideal destination.

Winter stays at Riviere Towans
Riviere Towans is a great choice for your winter break, but it’s also the period that our owners tend to build and renovate, and when essential land maintenance and roadworks are done. Disruptions and sound may affect neighbouring properties, so please get in touch with us before booking if you are concerned.
The winter season runs from the 1st November until the 1st April OR a week before Good Friday, whichever is earlier.
All the properties we manage are self-contained and self-catering. All the kitchen equipment you will require for your stay is provided in the property. All properties include a microwave, TV, iron and heating to name but a few of the basics. A large number also include washing machines but do check the property particulars above.

Just returned from yet another fantastic stay in D53 - Bide-A-Wee! Usually we (my parents and I) do a fortnight in Bide-A-Wee in May time but we came down just last week for a week long stay. Thank you, Toms, for another fantastic stay. Any wheelchair users (such as myself) will find the stay at Toms a blast. Yes, the site is a little hilly in places but the hills are gentle and not steep at all. The only bad (ish) one is the ramp down to the Bluff pub and even that is pretty gentle once you get used to it. I have been coming for at least ten years so I know now what to expect. See you May 2025! We've booked already!

We all (4 adults 2 youngsters) had a lovely stay in Bide a Wee. A great view from a comfortable chalet. Good beach. Local shop. The Bluff Inn is convenient for food and drinks with a games room.

We just got back from our yearly stay in D53 - Bide-A-Wee. It's the only one we stay in (as I've said before in another review) because I am in a wheelchair and require the wet room. We have already booked up for September! I went with Mom and Dad, as I do every year. Thanks Toms!

Fantastic little gem of a find, 7 of us was fishing from St Ives and didn't want to be in the thick of tourist city. It brought back some childhood memories, the accommodation was spot on, very quirky, every thing you needed was there, very close to a quiet beach, easy access, a pub/restaurant within 5 min walk called The Bluffs Inn which as a beer garden with exceptional views. Our accommodation was ready early and the on-site office let us have early entry. If you use the special instructions on how to get to the lodge you will not get lost, only down fall we found was there was no way out signs so had to use satnav to get onto main road. Other than that I would definitely book again. Thanks for a memorable stay. Top hosts I would definitely recommend them.

I come with my parents almost every year and stay in Bide-a-wee because I use a wheelchair. Love the chalet, it's always clean. Love the site... love the pub and view love everything. I don't drink but we always go down for Sunday lunch at least once. Most recently we went October last year.

We love this property, Never lets us down. Thank you for renting it to us. Please keep the key safe as it was great if we went out separately, or took a walk on the beach and ended up paddling (no valuables to worry about)
