The Location
The holiday park is one of the oldest in the country, with the first chalets constructed in the early 1920s. Now a beautiful site with a vast range of unique, quirky and privately owned accommodation, including beach chalets, bungalows and lodges. Many have stunning sea views and all are within a few minutes walk of the beach.

On the doorstep
Walk the coastal path at low tide all the way along the beach from Hayle river mouth to the Cliff tops of Godrevy and the surf break at Gwithian where you’ll find great food and drinks from cocktails to coffees, ice creams and fresh seafood at the local cafes and restaurants.
For those seeking surf, beginners to experienced surfers and bodyboarders can enjoy doorstep breaks at Hayle Rivermouth and Mexico Towans, both within walking distance of the park. Paddle boarding and kayaking on the Estuary, as well as kitesurfing and windsurfing are popular all year round.
Hayle is home to the RSPB Hayle Estuary Reserve, Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary, Hayle Lido, ice cream parlours, gift shops, great food (including Cornwall’s best Pasties from Philps), pubs and supermarkets.

Further Afield
Take the coastal train from Lelant to St. Ives, and visit The Tate & Barbara Hepworth museums. Visit Newlyn Harbour and Fish market for the best in Cornish Fish. Wander around the historical market town of Penzance, taking in the Harbour and Egyptian House or take a day trip to Lands End and coastal walk to Sennen Cove.
Find your way to Knill's Monument and Steeple Woodland Nature reserve, a 40 acre public open space which overlooks St Ives Bay before making your way down to Carbis Bay for fabulous food, drinks and its sheltered beach.
Cornwall has always been a favourite of artists, writers and film producers and its rugged coasts and beautiful coves have featured in numerous films and TV series most recently, the popular Poldark series. Whether it is a relaxing break or a more action packed holiday you are seeking, Toms Holidays at Riviere Towans is the ideal destination.

Winter stays at Riviere Towans
Riviere Towans is a great choice for your winter break, but it’s also the period that our owners tend to build and renovate, and when essential land maintenance and roadworks are done. Disruptions and sound may affect neighbouring properties, so please get in touch with us before booking if you are concerned.
The winter season runs from the 1st November until the 1st April OR a week before Good Friday, whichever is earlier.
All the properties we manage are self-contained and self-catering. All the kitchen equipment you will require for your stay is provided in the property. All properties include a microwave, TV, iron and heating to name but a few of the basics. A large number also include washing machines but do check the property particulars above.

Perfect chalet very close to a perfect kitesurfing/surfing beach. F26 Porthia is very spacious, it is well equipped and has been finished to a modern standard. It was perfect for an end of summer chillout! It is a 5min walk to the 3.5mile perfect beach (right next to one of Cornwall’s best kitesurfing spots!). There is a good pub overlooking the sea (The Bluff). Everything was perfect. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a nice place to stay in a super relaxed location. St Ives is about a 15min drive, same for Penzance, Newquay is about 45mins, Eden Project about 1hr15mins, Heligan 1 hour. This is well positioned to provide a good base for exploring Western Cornwall.

We had an amazing stay here and would return again. Great for families of 5 and everything's there. Cosy and comfortable at night with big TV screen. Facilities in the place were great fridge freezer, cooker, microwave and washing machine couldn't ask for more.

Excellent. Loved the property. Nice hot showers good supply hot water. Lovely interior. The bunk bed bottom beds were a bit must. If laminate flooring in the bedrooms might reduce this? Felt a bit stuffy at the bottom bunk.

We arrived at Porthia in May and was greeted by a lovely, clean, modern and well equipped holiday home. As a family of 4 children and 2 adults this was ideal for us. Very pleasant location and fab to just have a very short walk to the beech. We will def be visiting again next year as we fell in love with it. Nothing too much trouble for the owners and lots of info given to us beforehand.......loved it!!

Wonderful location and great accomodation. Everything, beach, shops, restaurants, within a small walks distance, so no need for a car. Superb clean beaches. Friendly welcome and basically no problems at all. Unfortunately, the WIFI in the cottage was a little poor, but this was not really a drawback and no fault of the owner or the manangemt company. Clean surroundings and nice playgrounds on site made it a good place to play for the children. Thank you very much. It was a good holiday. Andreas Zander.

I booked at short notice to stay in Hayle as my partner has fond childhood memories of Hayle and Gwithian beach. When we first arrived and opened the front door we were greeted by this wonderful homely atmosphere the chalet was light and airy the bathrooms yes bathrooms were decorated to a high standard as was the rest of the chalet you can walk to the beach which takes only about five minutes and the views are breathtaking definitely would book to stay there again

Couldn't believe I was booking our holiday through trip advisor but it was really easy and loved reading the positive reviews also, made quite a few enquiries throughout the who booking process and the owners were extremely helpful. The chalet has everything you could ever need and my one and only fault would be out of their hands - Phone signal, the location made it very hard to connect with 3G and the WIFI (not free) providers are not great either, even on a 15 minute free trial the connection was poor! I guess in one way it was good for us not to be on social media or browsing the Internet when you have views like that right outside your door practically! Great location and a fantastic feel to the place. Will be coming again next year 100%

We stayed in Porthia which is v well equipped and furnished to a high standard. We have a 13 and a 9 year old and 2 bunk bedrooms made it ideal. The 2 shower rooms were a fantastic bonus - great after a day on the beach. The site is lovely and quiet with plenty of room to have a game of football - essential as far as our 9 year old is concerned. Staff were helpful - though we only used the office to pick up and drop off key. The Hayle/St Ives area is lovely - loads of places to visit - although as the weather was good we spent most of the time on the lovely long sandy beach a few minutes walk away. St Ives by train is a nice trip and def go for a meal at The Bucket of Blood - traditional pub which you can walk to over the dunes. Great food and big portions. We also went to the Bluff Inn - though wouldn't recommend sitting inside - v noisy and stuffy esp as has an arcade in there. Tables outside are plentiful and great views too - ideal to stop off for tea on way back from beach. We've already booked for next year!

Porthia is a fantastic holiday chalet - fully equipped and lovely extras such as toys, games, beach equipment, books and DVD's and furnished to a high standard. We travelled with our children - 13 & 10 - and was great they had a room each and no fighting over top bunk! The 2 shower rooms were a fantastic bonus - great after a day on the beach. Also the washing machine was very handy. The site is very quiet - we had a lovely peaceful family holiday with every day on the beach which is an easy walk from the chalet. A lovely area to stay - lots of places within half an hours drive - though we didn't really leave the beach due to good weather.

What a nice place to stay , very well equipped a home away from home.We found it very clean and quiet which was nice. Dont buy the wifi as the signal is very weak and it's just not worth the money.Loved waking up in the morning to the bunnies running round outside. Would stay again such a beautiful place.

We had an absolutely lovely time in Porthia. Being in a cul-de-sac it was perfect for our little kids jumping around. Close to the little supermarket. Very high standard inside the chalet, especially the 2 bathrooms made life a luxury. Can recommend highly to everyone. We'll come happily back!

The booking was straightforward and efficient. The house was comfortable, well equipped with every thing you need. The beach is 5 minute walk away. There is a lot to do in the area but you will need a car to access them. We went with 3 grown up children. They went coasteering (extreme but they loved it) Kayaking on the sea (loved it). There is so much to do that a week felt to short.

The chalet was very spacious and modern throughout. It was much nicer than we had expected and it was equipped with everything you should need. Although it did not have a sea view like some of the other chalets on the site, it was still only a short walking distance to the beach and it looked like one of the better chalets on the site so we didn't mind. The nearby beach was outstanding and location was an excellent base to tour the lands end and Penzance area. Although the site was quiet we found this more peaceful and the local pub 'the bluff' was only a 5 min walk and had excellent sea views. Overall I would definately recommend the chalet and location. For the price, this was a bargin and we shall definately return.

A truly lovely place to stay ,it's very tastefully decorated with really comfortable beds and settees , it's exceptionally well equipped with good quality utensils and fittings ...we stayed when it was extremely cold at easter and the house was cosy and warm. I would recommend Porthia to anyone and can't wait to book up for another holiday!!!

Couldn't fault the chalet, the area was just abit to quiet for us ,lovely beaches just a shame about the weather but thats britain for you ! To quiet for us in evening but lovely i you just like chilling .

We looked at many chalets at Rivier Towans and kept coming back to Porthia becuase of the fantastic decor. The furniture is top quality and bathrooms and kitchen are finished to a high standard. The showers were fantastic which was a treat after a cold surf! The weather was cold but the chalet was very warm and cosy. Some may prefer a more traditional chalet but with children, modern comforts are a essential and this made the holiday very pleasant Porthia is set back from the beach, situated near the entrance and we would have prefered to have been closer to the beach but it's literally a 5 minute walk and I'm sure the price would be alot more if it was closer and had a sea view. There is a childresn play area 2 minutes away. You will not go wrong with this chalet, it has to be one of the best on the site and I would highly recommend it. We'll be back next year!

We have rented this gorgeous chalet on several occasions over the last couple of years and cannot recommend it highly enough! It is immaculate and beautifully done out throughout. A very posh home from home, where everything you would want or need on a family holiday has been carefully considered. Porthia is tucked away in a beautiful little spot 5 mins walk from the stunning St. Ives Bay where miles of sandy white beaches awaits. There are so many brilliant places to visit in the surrounding area including St. Ives, Newquay, St. Micheal's Mount and Land's End. We are already booked up for next year and can't wait to go back!
